🌶️ Cowboy Candy (Candied Jalapeños)

Sweet, spicy, and absolutely irresistible! These candied jalapeños are perfect on burgers, sandwiches, pizza, nachos, or with cream cheese and crackers. Once you try them, you’ll want to make them every year!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs fresh jalapeños, sliced
  • 2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 6 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the jalapeños into ¼-inch rounds.
  2. In a large pot, combine the vinegar, sugar, garlic powder, turmeric, celery seed, and cayenne.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the jalapeño slices and simmer for 4 minutes.
  5. Pack the jalapeños into sterilized jars.
  6. Pour the hot syrup over the peppers, leaving ½ inch of headspace.
  7. Remove air bubbles, wipe the rims clean, and seal the jars.
  8. Process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
  9. Let cool completely and store. For the best flavor, wait 2 weeks before opening.
